Albumin

The liver produces albumin, which makes up between 55% and 65% of all plasma protein. Together with its role in the transportation and storage of hormones, fatty acids, and other diverse chemicals, albumin also helps to maintain oncotic pressure. In order to assess kidney function, the albumin test is ordered as part of a health screening and is included in the metabolic panel, liver function tests (LFT), or renal panel.
